Tony says ...
This 1854 quarter has some nice toning and overall great appearance. The 1854 is a better date for quarters and this one has incredible color. The "arrows" were placed around the date, starting in 1853, in order to signal to the public that these coins had less silver in them compared to previous quarters. This is also the year the mint decided to remove the rays from the reverse due to the difficulty in striking the coins.
