As the story goes, we all know that most of these went overseas to be melted in the Orient. This is actually the final date of the business strike Trade dollars made in San Francisco. Due to the Bland-Allison Act , the Trade dollar ceased production and only proofs were made through much of the 1880s. The 1878-CC Trade dollar is very difficult to own, making this San Francisco issue key for a date set. I love the look of this one. Should not last long on the site.
