This coin has gotten very popular lately in lower grades such as VF-XF. Recently one of these sold on Great Collections for a whopping $7594 (Aug 2026), which is way above price guides. I like the darker, original look of this coin. I think the smoothness and evenness of the surfaces is exactly what you want. For the 1889-CC, my opinion is not to bother going that much higher in your collecting. Many collectors grab this grade or mid-VF to cover the spot. In other words, these are typically quite liquid.
